The Effects of Social Media on Society and Marketing

Develop The Right To Choose

Social media marketing has covered more goods than a department store can offer. Online shops market products at ease, with a simple tag of pictures and links can already captivate people.  Teenagers, in their exploratory stage develop the ability to choose through social media. Before the birth of social media, choices from clothing, electronics and apparel were only limited.

Teenagers can now choose from a variety of products that they actually like. They have the ability to choose because they want to and not because they have no other options left. One example is the use of Pinterest, which provides users a variety of choices that appeal to them.

Promote Social Interaction

Teenagers seek more attention and approval from their peers. Social media has not only promoted information and products, but has provided the social interaction needed for teenagers to feel good about themselves.  That is the main purpose of the like button.

Though social media has made teenagers more independent, it should not substitute human interaction. Adults still hold the responsibility of guiding the youth because someday, they would be the ones to set a good example to young ones too.
